12 best co-op games on Xbox Game Pass

Xbox Game Pass co-op games for two players

Many people wonder what are the best co-op games on Xbox Game Pass, which is why I decided to write this article. I thoroughly analyzed the library of Microsoft’s service and chose 12 titles worth playing with a friend, partner or anyone else. However, I would like to point out that I focused only on games that allow you to play in cooperation – I did not take into account titles that only offer the usual multiplayer mode. Hope you find my list useful!

Co-op games on Xbox Game Pass

Currently, there are over 500 games in Xbox Game Pass library. It cannot be denied that this is a very large number – checking them all out in terms of the availability of co-op mode, and then selecting the most interesting ones, took me a long time. Anyway, we’re all here for the “meat”, though, so without further ado, the list of the 12 best co-op games on Xbox Game Pass begins below. The order is completely random.

1. Gears of War series

Gears 5

At the moment, the Gears of War series consists of the following games:

  1. Gears of War
  2. Gears of War 2
  3. Gears of War 3
  4. Gears of War 4
  5. Gears of War: Judgment
  6. Gears 5
  7. Gears: Tactics

All titles, except for the strategic spin-off Gears: Tactics, offer a co-op mode. The leitmotif of these third-person shooters is pure action. For example, the plot of the first Gears of War revolves around the Locust Horde – extraterrestrials who came to the surface of the planet Sera with not entirely peaceful intentions. As Marcus Fenix or Dominic Santiago (two main characters) we will have to face them. The next installments of the series expand this thread to a greater or lesser extent.

2. Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves

Sea of Thieves is a perfect co-op game that happens to be a part of the Xbox Game Pass subscription. In this not entirely serious production, we enter the shoes of pirates to be able to indulge in various types of pirate customs. I mean, above all, sailing ships on seas and oceans, searching for treasures or fighting monsters and other pirates. Interestingly, Sea of Thieves does not set us clearly defined goals – we can complete quests in any order or don’t complete them at all, visiting an open world full of interesting locations instead.

3. A Way Out

A Way Out

A Way Out is an action adventure game designed for cooperation, because it can only be completed by two players – you simply cannot finish it alone. The main characters of the story are Vincent and Leo – convicts who decided to escape from prison together. In order for their plan to succeed, the men (players) will have to work closely together, using a variety of gameplay mechanics. It is worth noting that many activities in A Way Out can be performed in two ways, so arguments seem inevitable.

Cooperation while playing is essential – you will often need to join forces and help each other to advance to the next stage. There are many interesting mechanics at the players’ disposal – arcade and more. When it comes to the story, Unravel Two is quite simple – it’s all about a journey.

Co-op games in Xbox Game Pass are really diverse – there are even survival horrors for 2 players, a perfect example of which is Dead Space 3. The entire story campaign here can be played in two – as Issac Clarke, a well-known character from the previous games, and Sergeant John Carver, a new face in the series. In Dead Space 3 we will visit the darkest corners of the ice planet Tau Volantis, full of bloodthirsty Necromorphs, i.e. people infected with an unknown cosmic virus. Our task will be to finally stop the plague.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection consists of the following games:

  1. Halo: Reach
  2. Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary
  3. Halo 2: Anniversary
  4. Halo 3
  5. Halo 4

Each of the games can be completed in a co-op mode. The plot of the first installment of the series (Halo: Combat Evolved) tells the story of a Master Chief – a super-soldier fighting against the Covenant, an extremely dangerous alien race that is in conflict with humans. It gets really serious when it comes to light that the “Halo” can be used as a weapon of mass destruction – the protagonist cannot allow the invaders to obtain it. The gameplay is based primarily on shooting – the Halo series has always been known for its “meaty” destruction.

The fate of the entire Arizona depends on the success of this mission, so the heroes roll up their sleeves and set off on an extremely dangerous journey through an area full of bloodthirsty creatures and all kinds of bandits. The game world is semi-open; we will primarily explore, fight and solve interesting quests.

It Takes Two is a phenomenal co-op game about a marriage planning a divorce. To deal with the sadness of a family breakup, a couple’s daughter creates two dolls: one resembling her mom and another one resembling her dad. For some reason, the minds of the parents are transferred into the puppets made by the girl, and they themselves end up in a fairy-tale world. To come back to reality, the quarreling spouses (controlled by the players) will have to find a common language. It Takes Two gameplay is based primarily on overcoming obstacles and solving logical puzzles. Long story short, cooperation is a must.

FAQ

Are the tutorials legit?

  • Of course they are! Each method on XGPU.deals is based on a conversion system developed by Microsoft itself.

How does it all work?

  • It's pretty simple. Microsoft has developed a conversion system that allows you to merge multiple types of subscriptions (Xbox Live Gold, PC Game Pass etc.) into Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, usually in 1:1 ratio. XGPU is the most expensive of all subscriptions, so by combining the cheaper ones, you can save a lot of money. Microsoft has explained it on its website.

Can I get banned for using your tutorials?

  • No. By taking advantage of a conversion system developed by Microsoft itself, you can't get banned, because you're not violating any rules. When it comes to the VPN-based guide, Microsoft technically prohibits activating codes from different regions, but we haven't heard of anyone getting banned for that.

Is it safe to make a purchase in the stores you provide links to?

  • Yes. We work with reputable sellers only.

Your discount codes don't work. What to do?

  • In order for our discount codes to work, you have to access the stores through our links. If you still can't use any of our coupons, despite accessing the stores through our links, launch XGPU.deals in incognito mode and try again.

I don't see my country in the dropdown menu. Does that mean I can't use your tutorials?

  • If Xbox subscriptions are available in your region, you can still use our tutorials. However, you might have to make a purchase in a different currency and do the math yourself. Just follow the steps in the chosen method, but have in mind that prices may vary.

Are the guides up to date?

  • Yes. We verify every method on a daily basis and if anything changes, our guides get updated right away.

Can I use your guides if I play on PC?

  • Yes. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate grants you access to games on three platforms simultaneously: PC, consoles (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S) and cloud.

Should I follow the steps described in the tutorials in order, or it doesn't matter?

  • The correct order is crucial. If you activate subscriptions in the wrong order, you might achieve a way less favorable conversion ratio.

In the VPN-based guide, can I use any VPN or do I have to install Urban VPN?

  • Feel free to use any VPN you want, as long as it has a Turkish server. We picked Urban VPN just because it's free and very easy to use.

If I buy a subscription following the VPN-based guide, will I always have to use VPN in order to access games from the Xbox Game Pass library?

  • Absolutely not. The VPN is needed just to activate codes - once you finish all the steps in the tutorial of your choice, you can uninstall the VPN and forget about it forever.

How many months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can I stack on my account?

  • 36 months is the maximum number, so you won't be able to activate any more subscriptions if you exceed the limit. However, you can purchase as many codes as you want and activate them later, because keys don't expire.

Where can I find the list of games currently available in Xbox Game Pass?

How can I cancel my Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription or disable recurring payments?

The tutorial worked and I just bought Xbox Game Pass Ultimate way cheaper! What can I do in exchange?

  • We'd appreciate an honest comment about the whole process - others might find it helpful! Click here to jump to the comment section.
